Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar has given instructions to tighten security at major ghats, places of worship and ponds during Chhath Puja. He has asked to make special arrangements keeping in mind women’s safety, under which women police personnel will be deployed in plain clothes. The DGP said that a large number of women and children gather on this festival, so there should not be any kind of lapse in security.
Duty of divers at major ghats
As per the instructions of the DGP, the duty of divers will be mandatorily imposed at major ghats. Also, the presence of anti-Romeo squad will be ensured in crowded areas. The DGP also said that firecrackers are burst at many places, so fire brigade arrangements will also be made at these ghats.
Patrol on foot in crowded areas
The DGP has also instructed to increase vigilance at railway and bus stations, as there is a huge crowd here during Chhath. He has ordered the concerned officials to prepare an action plan in advance. Patrol on foot will be done in crowded areas and LIU (Local Intelligence Unit) has been put on alert.
Strict monitoring on social media
Along with this, the DGP has also instructed to keep a strict vigil on social media. He said that any objectionable or misleading post should be removed immediately and strict action should be taken against those doing so.
